Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection
2-3371
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is a governmental agency within the State of Wisconsin with a staff of approximately 650 employees led by Secretary Randy Romanski. We partner with all citizens of Wisconsin to grow the economy by promoting quality food, healthy plants and animals, sound use of land and water resources, and a fair marketplace. DATCP’s six divisions provide a wide variety of agriculture and trade services: we regulate practices across industries ranging from Christmas tree growers to animal feed manufacturers to meat and poultry producers; conserve soil and protect watersheds; assist with consumer complaints about scams and frauds; respond to animal disease outbreaks; and more.
As the agency’s division focused on helping Wisconsin agricultural and food companies grow their business locally and around the world, DATCP’s Division of Agricultural Development supports exporting, international trade, farmer financial planning, farmer wellness, and agribusiness innovation.
