Since 1968, the Illinois Department of Agriculture has actively and aggressively engaged in international market development for the state’s food and agribusiness companies and nearly 71,000 farms. We are committed to promoting and supplying Illinois' world-class agricultural products and services — from grains and oilseeds, livestock genetics, bioscience, and food products, to harvesting, food processing and packaging equipment. The state ranks 1st in the U.S. in soybean production, 2nd in corn production, 2nd in food production and 4th in pork production. The Illinois Department of Agriculture hosts trade missions to Illinois and participates in international trade shows abroad. It also maintains an Asia office in Hong Kong to serve as a contact point between Asian buyers and Illinois suppliers. Services of the Asia office include handling trade inquiries, assisting Illinois food and agricultural businesses seeking Asian distribution, arranging business meetings, coordinating agricultural trade missions, etc.
